Moving your car on you own might be stressful if its the first time you've done it, but its definitely something you can do if you will do the work and research required.

However, the research, planning and organizing with a carrier company might take four or five weeks, so be realistic about how much preparation time you'll require for your move.

Alternatives and options -- there are plenty

Next you will need to find the transport method that suits you best. The cheapest way will be to hire a driver. But if you don't want the enroute risks associated with that, then you need to consider if you want putting the car on a truck and using a depot to depot service, or have a company give you door to door service. Door to door will cost more, as you'll appreciate.

There are options if you decide to give your car to a carrier. It could go on a flat deck, or inside a van, or inside a container, or on a trailer. And he may have specialized car moving vehicles, or simply adapt a conventinal truck .

Select a trucking company

Now is the time to select a trucking firm and you will probably be confronted with many alternatives. Ask for references and check up with people who have moved cars with your choice. Put in some work and look through the insurance details with a careful eye. Spending time at this point will be well worth it in the long run.

What to do in the days of the move

There are just a few little of things you want to do just before you move. Simple things like leaving the tank nearly empty, removing valuables, or small items that can move around, cleaning the inside.

And just final thing: when will the mover come for the shift? And at your destination, when will they drop it off? What payments or documents will need to be exchanged at the drop-off? Simple things that will make the move a lot more simple.
